Tesla Launches Upgraded Model Y L in China Amid EV Market Competition
Tesla began accepting orders for its redesigned Model Y L in China on August 18, targeting local demand with an extended wheelbase and improved range. The electric SUV, teased on Weibo, promises enhanced passenger space and a 527-mile CLTC range. Deliveries from Giga Shanghai are slated for September 2025.
The move comes as Tesla faces pressure from domestic EV manufacturers offering cheaper alternatives. Priced at 339,000 yuan ($47,000 USD), the Model Y L represents Tesla's bid to regain momentum in a market where its Shanghai facility's wholesale growth has lagged.
